My grandfather Pr. V. T. Joseph was a legend. I found an old video on YouTube where he begins a convention with a prayer. Classic stuff! If you have a video recording of one of his sermons, please let me know. I am looking to sharing them online. Thanks you.
I saw Pastor V. T. Joseph as a very young boy for the first time, may be 5 years old when Pastor
K. E. Abraham came to preach in Makkamkunnu, perhaps the year was 1950. He was one of the pioneers of the Pentecostal movement in Kerala, a close personal friend of my dad.
Today (7-16-2014) my friend who is from the Marthoma Church called me and requested me to listen the story of a great Christian from my area, from the family of Vilavinal. He began to read the story, how this person came to accept JESUS CHRIST as his personal saviour from the Orthodox background by hearing the gospel from Kunjappy uppadesi of the CMS Church, at the age of 14. As the story was going on, I was caught up in a suspension without properly locating the person, but finally I asked my friend ” are you reading about Pastor V.T. Joseph? He said, that is correct.
I heard him speak in 1987 in New Jersey for the last time. He was a great Bible scholar gifted in presenting the theological subjects in a very attractive manner wrapped up with a solid sense of humor which made the sermons very attractive for the audience. While he tells any humor, his face never showed any sign that he was telling an humor, that much self-control he had. On the other hand, he was always with a smiling and pleasant face, never seen him in a serious face.
He had regular preaching engagement in the neighboring States like Tamil Nadu.
In this generation, we are lacking terribly great men of GOD like Pastor V. T. Joseph who stood for JESUS with many challenges-sufferings and humiliation before the world.
